Kids Know Breakfast

We asked kids to draw their breakfast. They knew exactly what a healthy one looks like. One page stayed blank.

The Idea

Kids Know Breakfast. So Should You.

A simple set-up, a marker, and a blank sheet of paper.

A girl holds up a blank sheet of paper — still from Kids Know Breakfast

The kids weren't the problem.

Many kids are at risk of going to school not fed properly, or not fed at all. But ask them what a healthy breakfast is and they'll draw it for you: eggs, toast, fruit, cereal, a glass of milk. It's the parents who need to make sure every child gets a healthy start to the day.

So we put kids in front of the camera the day after school started, handed them markers, and asked. The drawings came easily. Then one child held up a blank page.

The film closes on the number: over 1.15 million Canadian kids are at risk of being sent to school not fed properly. Kids know breakfast. So should you.
